So, come and take a road trip with us through lovely Ireland with a smallish group of like-minded travellers, an entertaining Driver/Guide, a pint of beer (or a few), a sing-song, gracious hospitality, beautiful manor hotels, a castle of two, enchanting lands, historic lore, poetry, stately magnificence, the wilds of cliffs and sea, and throw in a few sheep!
September 28 - October 11, 2012
Itinerary:
Begin in Dublin for two nights then travel across The Curragh to the Country of Kildare to visit the Irish National Stud, home to the famous Irish thoroughbreds. Continue driving through the south of Ireland and visit Kilkenny, Cork, Bantry Bay and Killarney where we will board Jaunting Cars (horse carriages) for a tour across Killarney National Park. Transfer to Dingle Peninsula and rest your head on a pillow at the spectacular Dromoland Castle, one of Ireland's finest castle hotels. Visit the glorious cliffs of Moher and drive across the Burren Region to Galway. As a second special treat, you will rest your head for two nights on a pillow at Ashford Castle, one of Ireland's most distinguished luxury hotels. Drive to Carrowmore to visit the Megalithic Cemetery and the village of Drumcliff where the famous Irish poet W.B. Yeats is buried. The next day visit Ulster American Folk Park to hear the story of why the people in this part of Ireland began moving to America in the XVIII century. End in Belfast where you will visit Old Bushmill Distillery and The Titanic Experience (Titanic Belfast), a magnificent building being built as we write, in commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. On our last day, we will take a cruise on Lough Neagh and visit Coney Island, which has a rich history dating back thousands of years.
