Rangiroa: “the Endless Lagoon”

Peaceful, breathtaking, unspoiled, and magical are only some of the words used to describe Rangiroa, Polynesia.

Rangiroa: “The Endless Lagoon”

Rangiroa is a string of coral that surrounds a jade-green lagoon set in the beautiful French Polynesian Islands.

The Atoll itself (a ring-shaped coral reef including a coral rim that encircles a lagoon partially or completely) is the second largest in the world, and to say it’s a unique and awe-inspiring place to feast your eyes on would be a historic understatement.

The two main villages of Rangiroa are Avatoru and Tiputa, which are surrounded by two legendary bodies of water, Moana – tea (“Peaceful Ocean”) and Moana – Uri (“Wild Oceans”). These two villages are where almost all residents of the island reside. Avatoru is where you will find most businesses, restaurants, and shops, while Tiputa serves mostly as a administrative community.

Once arriving in port, you will be blinded by the beauty, seclusion, and serenity of Rangiroa, as well as the abundance of things to do and see while visiting.

Below are three of the most popular things to do while in Rangiroa. These things, of course, are in addition to world-class diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, para-sailing, and water skiing.

Beaches – The Atoll can be described as one big beach, however, the blue lagoon Motu is by far the most popular.

Lagoon excursions – Enjoy the day exploring the lagoon with over 200 inlets and spectacular wildlife.

Pearl farm visits – Some of the world’s most beautiful Tahitian pearls are farmed in the Rangiroa lagoon. When visiting the farm, you will have the opportunity to learn about the harvesting of these amazing jewels, as well as the gem's history on the island.
