Veere: the Little Village With a Lot of Character

The Netherlands can be a hectic, busy place, but a visit to Veere can slow things down as you lose yourself in the serenity of village life.

Veere: The Little Village with a lot of Character

Veere is a charming historical village, built on the shore of the Western Schedlt in the Netherlands. It has a population of around 1,500 inhabitants, and has a yearly tourist influx that is certainly disproportionate to its size, with no less than 4 million annual visitors in the municipality. Veere obtained city rights in 1353, and though it was once a fishing town, its marina is now used for pleasure yachts.

Its buildings and houses of residence all seem to carry some charm, quite characteristic of Veere. Some houses on the Markt (Town Square) even have miniature versions of classical palace gardens. The Town Hall, erected in 1474, is one of the more eye-catching buildings, and has a 48-bell carillon atop it. There are many interesting and fascinating places to check out while here.

Veere also carries its own set of restaurants, where you can feast on traditional and modern Dutch cuisine among others. You would do well to check out this village (now city), and take a load off. The place provides a less hectic atmosphere, perfect for strolling, biking and touring, as well as sailing and other water-based activities.

If your next trip takes you to the Netherlands, stop by the charming village of Veere, and take time to enjoy the simpler things in life. See why so many visitors flock to this spot each year. For more information and details about Veere, or if you have any questions, comments or concerns about booking your trip, please feel free to contact us.
