Getting Around Paris: Transportation Information

Paris is the Romantic and Fashion capital of Europe. It is home to world beating brands, food, catwalk run ways, designer clothes, romantic hotspots and tourists’ attraction.

Among the places you are likely to visit as a Paris tourist includes the popular Eiffel Tower, Disneyland Paris, Notre Dame de Paris, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Musee d' Orsey, Palais Garner, Catacombs of Paris, Grand Mosque of Paris, Stade de France, Les Invalides, Verdon Gorge and many more. But how do you get to these places?

There are six ways you can get around Paris. They are espoused below.

By Car and Car Rental

If you own a car, then getting around Paris should be easy. All you are required to do is buy a Paris map and you should be on your way to having an adventure of your lifetime. There are hundreds of car hire companies in Paris that can assist you. If you want chauffer driven cars, they will cost you a little more but you will get a better service since they are driven by chauffeurs who know the Parisian Streets well. For car hire, Google companies such as Ada, Avis, Budget, Easy Car, Hettz etc.

By Organized Tour

This is done by tour companies. Note that it will cost you a little more but you will get your money's worth. The organized tours might be Bike Tours, Boat Tours or Walk Tours. Make sure you know what your tour company will organize for you before accepting the deal.

On Foot

The best way to see any place is on foot. You get to walk into the restaurants, window-shop, mingle with locals and learn a little of their language. Paris is no different. All you need is a map and a little knowledge of French.

On Bicycles

In 2007, the mayor of Paris introduced a bicycle service known as Velib. Today, it has over 20,000 bicycles available in 1500 stations and are available for hire 24-hours a day. If you want to full explore Paris, apart from on foot, the next best thing is on a bicycle.

On Taxis

There are a number of Paris Taxi companies that are always on phone. Some of these include; Alpha Taxis, taxi-Bleus and Taxis G7. In case you are lost or just do not want the hassle of asking people for direction, call any of this companies and you will be served in a matter of minutes.

By Public Transport

Buses, Trams, boats and Trains are always available in Paris. You however need to learn about the ticketing system and rates. The buses run on schedule and their routes are available online.
