The Loire Valley, not far from Paris, offers beautiful, scenic vistas as well as over 300 chateaux from the Renaissance to visit, tour and even book a stay at. Because of its huge concentration of monuments, the Loire Valley is the largest UNESCO World Heritage site in France, and these beautiful castles make Loire Valley a welcome detour from the countries capital.
The Loire Valley Castles are masterpieces of the Renaissance, full of magic and history. They are treasure houses where art and history combine. Each of the Loire Valley Castles demonstrates technical and architectural know-how as well as an aesthetic sensibility, and will leave you in awe of the grandeur and splendour. Leonardo da Vinci also had a hand in some of the architecture, and called Chateau d’Amboise his last home. He is even buried in the chateau’s chapel of Saint-Hubert.
